The Centro de Estudios de Asia Oriental (CEAO, Centre for East Asian Studies) was established in 1992 at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), one of the most prestigious Spanish public universities. The Centre's main aim is to promote research on East Asian Studies and co-operation with Asian scholars in all the academic areas.

Institute of Asian Studies, GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies was founded in 1956 on the initiative of the German Parliament and the German Foreign Ministry. The Institute has been assigned the task to study the political, economic, and social developments in Asian countries. Its field of activity concentrates on contemporary affairs, while aiming to procure and broaden scientifically based knowledge of the region and its countries. Director: Patrick Koellner.

IIAS - International Institute for Asian Studies
  

The International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS) is a post-doctoral institute established in 1993 by Dutch universities and the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, to encourage Asian Studies in the humanities and social sciences and to promote national and international scientific co-operation in these fields. The IIAS is mainly financed by the Netherlands Ministry of Education, Culture and Sciences. Director: Philippe Peycam.

IRSEA - Romanian Institute for European – Asian Studies

  

The IRSEA is dedicated to the research, analysis and discussion of fundamental economic and socio – political issues in Europe and Asia, such as political developments, demographic trends and their effect on migration, monetary and financial systems in emerging countries, energy problems in the two regions, business globalization, including the labor market, cultural exchanges, rapid economic growth in Asia, environment and pollution, other regional and international topics.

NIAS has a special mandate to stimulate the development of Asian studies in the Nordic region.
